Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company #20
Loudoun County, VA

Size:

16,700 SF building which includes 6,682 SF of addition

The Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company had outgrown its original building and required a thoughtful solution to meet all of the programmatic needs within a limited budget. While the drive through bays were sufficient for the station’s apparatus, other spaces were needed to include living, dormitory and bay support areas. Samaha focused use of project funding on small additions built around the station and limited renovations. Our strategy allowed the occupied and phased construction to occur without service interruption and accommodated the tight site constraints. Ultimately, we were able to design within the project budget and include a museum showcase space for antique apparatus at the front of the station.

The 6,682sf of additions increased the facility to a total usable area of 16,700sf meeting all of the current fire station design manual standards.
