McClellan Gate Restoration

Samaha was retained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to document existing conditions and provide a structural analysis of the historic McClellan Gate.  These findings would determine the potential for structural failure based on existing conditions and/or deteriorations of the existing structural system.  In addition, areas of stone deterioration due to age, erosion, moisture penetration, and insect infestation were identified and evaluated.  Based on these evaluations, Samaha made recommendations for enhancing the long-term structural stability and preservation of the McClellan Gate.  A complete construction document package formally addressed the necessary repairs required to rehabilitate this historic monument at the Arlington National Cemetery.
